One year

Its been since June since I have written anything. My life has gotten a little out of whack. Let’s see…. June… I dont even remember what all happened in June. Or July, August, or September. I do know I went to the court in September to deal with family related stuff.

I also started a new job. So now I work 3 jobs. 2 out of home and one in. I have been incredibly busy so my in-home job has unfortunately been put on standby. It really sucks because my in-home job is the one I want the most.

What also sucks is that I know what I have to do to make my in-home job be successful, but for whatever stupid reason I just can’t get myself to stay consistent. Some days I wilk have the most motivation, and others I just can’t seem to care. Which, that ends up being a most-of-the-time situation.

October 17th of this year hit and BAM my baby is 1 year old. What happened to the time? We have made it 1 year of life. I kept my kid alive with solely my body For 1 whole year. It has been a huge adventure. I never imagined I would be the “crunchy mom” type.

What is a Crunchy Mom?

” In layman’s terms, a crunchy mom is a mom who practices natural living. She is an advocate of natural birth, non or selective circumcision, not vaccinating, baby wearing, breastfeeding, co-sleeping, cloth diapering, attachment parenting, homeschooling, organic and green living, etc.” https://voiceboks.com/the-differences-between-a-silky-scrunchy-and-crunchy-mom/

I wont go into what all I practice, but I definitely fit the match here.

Before my son, I was so carefree. “Who cares! As long as the baby is alive! Blah blah blah!”and now it’s “are you breastfeeding? If not, why? (To offer support) Did you know there’s organic goat formula? Did you know a lot of babies dont do well with dairy or soy? Because cows milk is for cows and human milk is for babies and toddlers/ children. (Where applicable. There’s a lot that goes into breastfeeding.) Don’t give your child Tylenol because it can have these effects (insert educational infographic)! Don’t use all those chemicals on baby’s butt! Choose cloth! (I love cloth and it really does save money!) Don’t use all those chemicals in home cleaning products! Eat organic (but God, it is expensive!)! Did you know (insert random fact about something controversial among parents)?!”

It sounds crazy when I put it like that. Let’s look at the other side:

Note: these are not my beliefs, these are examples of what I have seen and heard myself.

“It’s my son, I will make the choice to permanently alter his penis. Intact penises look gross. Intact penises are dirtier and harder to clean. It’s not just cosmetic. Her ears will be so cute pierced. Its my baby so I can do what I want. I don’t care about their bodily autonomy (basically what someone says when they elect to proceed with circumcision and piercing their daughter’s ears at an age too early to consent). I didnt even try to breastfeed (breastfeeding is way more nutritious and heskthier for baby than formula feeding. Keep in mind there are extenuating circumstances where formula may be needed. There are many kinds of formula. Just research.) My kid gets ear infections (or sick some other way) all the time (can’t connect the dots that vaccines CAN cause these issues, plus more severe ones. Irreversible ones. Such as death. But nobody will tell you that verbally (doctors won’t anyways). Again, research.) I let my kid have all this sugar and McDonald’s and unhealthy stuff!”

I cringe. But, I am not that child’s mother. Or father. But I very much so will advocate for that child about his or her bodily autonomy.

Anyways, sorry for the rant. ADHD mind can’t stay focused, hahaha.

We are looking into essential oils. That’s fun. We use lavender during our baths. And that’s about all I’ve gotten so far 😂😂😂.

But, I am a crunchy mom. Will that change over time? Who knows. It could. But my child is alive and healthy. So, I think I am doing alright at least.
Until next time 🙂
